The Grey Dress

This dress, a smokey-grey taffeta is one of my more recent favorite creations!
The model, in these photos loved it so much she commented, "When I get married you've got to design a wedding dress just like this for me...I love the way the skirt billows out when I walk."

I love that too...the skirt is longer in the back to form a hint of a train and the front is made to catch the air when walking. I also love the high collard neck and the way the long bodice hugs the torso dropping down to the hips in front then going even lower in back to barely below the curve of the rear to meet with the full gathered skirt. This dress has very flattering lines and graceful movement.
The "Grey Dress" as it is often referred to is one of my most coveted designs...not hard to see why.

Kids Can Sew

Here's the credit to my MOM, yeah and maybe I inspired her too, because she went on to become the founder of Kids Can Sew, which is now a world wide sewing program that teaches kids to sew and design.

My First Design (5 years old)

This is when the house of Lee began. I was only 5 years old...

And this pink frock is the very first dress I ever designed. It has a bit of a Betsy flair, which is much more evident in some of my recent designs.  I know it's hard, but look closely at the front and you'll see the lovely gold hand-stitched darts and a faux placket down the middle...so fashionable!
And in the back...gotta love the waistband detail and the zipper...on the outside, haha!
Finally there's the shoulder straps, cut to a point then stitched in a circle, just to add a special touch.  I loved it way-back-when, danced around in it all the time, stills tickles me pink! Now here is where I've got to give some serious credit. For saving it, for inspiring me and passing on some of your creative talent,
THANK YOU MOM!
